Those of you who only know tteokbokki, try tasting bungeoppang or this sweet fish cake. This fish-shaped cake is very famous in Korea, It is said that fish cakes bring good luck to anyone who eats them. This snack has been famous in Korea since the 1930s.
but don’t get me wrong. Even though it’s called fish cake, bungeoppang doesn’t contain fish at all. The ingredients are the same as cakes in general, only the contents vary. Traditional bungeoppang usually contains red beans. But now the contents are more diverse such as chocolate, ice cream, to chestnuts.
Although many bungeoppang are sold in various Korean street food outlets, you can make your own bungeoppang with the recipe below.
1 cup of medium protein flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1 tablespoon sugar
1 cup of water
1 tablespoon of vegetable oil
Red bean porridge for stuffing (buy finished)
How to make :
Mix flour, salt, baking soda, and sugar in a bowl. Add 1 cup of water, then stir well.
Strain the mixture so that there are no lumps.
Heat a special frying pan for fish-shaped bungeoppang over low heat.
Brush the bottom and the lid off the pan with oil.
Pour the mixture up to 1/3 part, then add the red beans in the middle, then pour the dough again full so that the red beans are covered.
Cover the mold, then cook on one side with low heat for 3 minutes.
Turn the mold over, then cook again on the other side for 3 minutes. Then back again, open the mold, and cook for 30 seconds.
Remove and serve, eat while warm.
